    Norm-based crisis and deceitful firms

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to provide an explanation of recent corporate malpractices in terms of individuals’ norm-based behaviour. In particular, it suggests that corporate misbehaviour could be understood in terms of a system-wide explanation grounded in the way in which the market itself operates and the endogenous norms which regulate its operation

    Mathematical needs and economic interpretations

    Get PDF
This paper aims at showing that the disconnection between formal structures and theoretical content in economic model building could lead to undesirable consequences. In this sense, linking formal and verbal contents by means of coherent and relevant interpretations is worth the effort. For it is a relatively simple way of helping to improve the usefulness of mathematical economic theorization. By way of illustration of these ideas, the paper discusses the interpretation which Arrow and Debreu themselves put on the inclusion of free goods in their proof of existence of a general equilibrium

Development of a graphical simulator for microgrids with renewable energies

Nowadays, we live in a moment that everything is changing fast and we need to adapt to these changes. As all we know, there is an energy crisis, which we have to overcome, one possibility of solution is development of renewable energy and way of energy storage. Mainly storage systems are batteries of different matter (lithium-ion or lead acid) and secondly hydrogen technology, which are being developed. The aim of this project is to achieve a control which can manage different systems storage and then it can save primary energy. Hence, we will develop a control for a specific microgrid. We are going to develop the simulator using Simulink’s blocks and specific models (photovoltaic, wind turbine, battery, electrolyser and demand). We are going to use technical specifications of real systems, but we are going to adapt to power which is required by renewable energy systems. We are going to develop the strategy of control based on heuristic rules, which we are going to look for achiving our goals (one of these goals is to work island). We are going to follow the INTA’ strategy of control. Furthemore, we are going to perfom different tests to verify that our control is working right. During these tests, we are going to modify meteorological conditions and initial states of storage energy systems. Finally, we expect to obtain accurenly control which can work for INTA’s microgrd though we know that this control isn’t optimized.Universidad de Sevilla. Grado en Ingeniería de la Energí

    On nonparaxial nonlinear Schrödinger-type equations

    Get PDF
In this paper the one-dimensional nonparaxial nonlinear Schrödinger equation is considered. This was proposed as an alternative to the classical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in those situations where the assumption of paraxiality may fail. The paper contributes to the mathematical properties of the equation in a two-fold way. First, some theoretical results on linear well-posedness, Hamiltonian and multi-symplectic formulations are derived. Then we propose to take into account these properties in order to deal with the numerical approximation. In this sense, different numerical procedures that preserve the Hamiltonian and multi-symplectic structures are discussed and illustrated with numerical experiments

Numerical generation of periodic traveling wave solutions of some nonlinear dispersive wave systems.

    Get PDF
In this paper a numerical procedure to generate approximations to periodic traveling wave profiles of some nonlinear dispersive wave systems is introduced. The method is based on a suitable modification of a fixed point algorithm of Petviashvili type and solves several drawbacks of some previous algorithms presented in the literature. By way of illustration, the method is applied to generate numerically periodic traveling waves of two problems of interest: the fractional KdV type equations and the extended Boussinesq system.Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad /FEDER (MTM2015-66330-P)Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (MTM2014-54710-P

A high-order fully discrete scheme for the Korteweg–de Vries equation with a time-stepping procedure of Runge–Kutta-composition type

    Get PDF
Producción CientíficaWe consider the periodic initial-value problem for the Korteweg–de Vries equation that we discretize in space by a spectral Fourier–Galerkin method and in time by an implicit, high-order, Runge–Kutta scheme of composition type based on the implicit midpoint rule. We prove L2 error estimates for the resulting semidiscrete and the fully discrete approximations. Some numerical experiments illustrate the results.VA193P20 Junta de Castilla y LeónPID2020-113554GB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovació

    Magnetorotational Instability in Core-Collapse Supernovae

We discuss the relevance of the magnetorotational instability (MRI) in core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe). Our recent numerical studies show that in CCSNe, the MRI is terminated by parasitic instabilities of the Kelvin-Helmholtz type. To determine whether the MRI can amplify initially weak magnetic fields to dynamically relevant strengths in CCSNe, we performed three-dimensional simulations of a region close to the surface of a differentially rotating proto-neutron star in non-ideal magnetohydrodynamics with two different numerical codes. We find that under the conditions prevailing in proto-neutron stars, the MRI can amplify the magnetic field by (only) one order of magnitude. This severely limits the role of MRI channel modes as an agent amplifying the magnetic field in proto-neutron stars starting from small seed fields.Comment: Proceedings in Acta Physica Polonica B, Proceedings Supplement, Vol. 10, No. 2, p.361, 4 pages, 1 figur

La porta principalis sinistra del campamento de la legión VII gémina en León: De la intervención arqueológica a la restitución virtual

    Get PDF

Imports from the Eastern Mediterranean Region in the Roman Military Camp of León (Spain)

Archaeological interventions in the last few decades in the city of León, where the LegioVI Victrix and the Legio VII Gemina were located during the Early Roman Empire, haveuncovered a considerable amount of Roman pottery. Among these findings, particularlynoteworthy are some Eastern Mediterranean amphorae and an important set of glazedpottery from Asia Minor workshops. Analyses of the set reveal the basic products thatwere habitually consumed in the fortress, in particular, Eastern Mediterranean wines, and prestigious products such as glazed pottery, particularly two skyphoi that present acurious iconographic motif related to the trial of Oreste
